“…have the audacity of a white man and go after your life’s pursuits as though you could not fail.” …
Have audacity
Bars/a Sunday to Saturday sermon.

As someone who works in corporate HR, absolutely! Men, as a whole, have the audacity to ask but white men sit on top of that totem.
A lot of white men have the audacity to demand what they want—a title change, an undeserved promotion in their wage, more financial allowances, etc—despite not having the experience, education, and/or buy-in needed from their peers. It’s crazy but what’s even crazier is that they get it with little-to-no pushback!

I am experiencing this at my job currently with our sole full-time Biomed Technician. I’m the one pushing back because he’s lacking in a lot of areas to justify what he’s demanding. Promoting him would also start a bad precedent.
This employee is demanding a job title change to Manager when there’s no one to manage plus a 23.5% pay raise! Our Executive Director’s argument to me is that the employee does the same job as another employee at our sister location in Utah, and should, in theory, receive the same pay. The employee in Utah has more than double the years of experience then our guy and our guy reaches out to the guy in Utah when he has troubleshooting issues!

My response was that all of our nurses do the same job duties, if that’s the case, they should all be paid the same hourly rate. That made our ED stop, think, and tell me that I’m right!

For context , this same man has complained to me that we have too many $50 [an hour] nurses, and we need more $40 [an hour] nurses!

As the sole recruiter, I’m paying people based on their experience, and not based on what looks best on his financial reporting and projections.
This man ruffles my feathers but I’m staying with the company out of spite/to make sure he does right about our employees—in regard to transfers, promotions, and celebrations.

Because he forgets the conversations he’s had, and the promises that he’s made to people. He’s a salesman by trade; he’s great at selling the company and its growth opportunities, but he struggles at doing what’s right once people take his bait and are stuck on the hook.

Anywho. It’s Monday. It’s after 2am and I have to carpe the diem soon.

Goodnight.
