What’s a thing you wish schools actually taught?

I don’t know what the schools are teaching in the year 2026 under this Donald J. Trump/Project 2025 administration, or if they’re even teaching the kiddos anything anymore. Does the Department of Education even exist anymore? Is it the new Trump University? God forbid.

I am a big believer that the K-12 education system in Miss America is just a front for getting children indoctrinated in America’s supposed greatness and prepared for the 9-to-5…till you die (or retirement…if you’re lucky) grind—the routine of waking up five-days-a-week, being timely and orderly, working with others, and taking instructions. Plus a 30 minute lunch period that is prepared and sold to you.

Instead of perfecting my two-step in elementary school and being forced fed white washed American history everyday until graduation, I would’ve better been served being taught finances because life is long and life is expensive.

With the exception of the maybe four days that I worked at Zaxbys in high school, I didn’t work. But if I would’ve been taught about the power of compound interest and the benefits of retiring early, I probably would’ve been motivated to work to save, and I for sure would’ve applied pressure to the adults in my life to also invest in my future.

Instead our education system is designed to fill ((*steal*)) your adolescent years until you’re legally able to give your life over to capitalism. 😭🤧😩🫩✨

The reality is being well informed about how to leave the rat race early does not benefit the powers that be—so white washed history and line dancing was the curricula.

White washed American and world history is here to stay unfortunately. I wonder what replaced line dancing?
