Fun for the mental

What’s a skill you consider basic, that most people don’t actually know how to do?

“We won with young. We won with old. We won with highly educated. We won with poorly educated. I love the poorly educated,”-DJT, 2016

Read.

Americans are stupid 😩🇺🇸🦅✨🤧

Don’t boo me. I’m right.

Exactly.

According to the National Literacy Institute, “54% of U.S. adults read below the equivalent of a sixth-grade level, and 64% of our country’s fourth graders do not read proficiently”. Receipt-1

I see it almost daily in the employees at my job—they know their role and nothing else. I’ll send certain employees the same email repeatedly asking them to complete a simple task but they won’t, because they refuse to read what’s in the email—instructions. It’s scary because these people are nurses and technicians with other people’s lives in their hands literally. And these same people have children.

Back in my day.

We had a lot of standardized testing in elementary, middle, and high school. I remember scoring at a 12th grade reading level in the 8th grade and being so proud of myself! I didn’t enjoy reading aloud in class, but I loved reading to myself.

Back then, reading was prioritized. Scholastic book fairs were my favorite part of the school year. That and Fall Festival. Not being a good reader was shameful. Most of the books that were a requirement back then are now on the banned books list!

Let this be your reminder to read banned books: Fight the power

The only book that burned back in my day. Again, what a time. 🤧✨

¿How did we get here?

The parents aren’t reading at work and they’re not reading at home to their kids, because they can’t read! Children are screwed at no fault of their own. Blame the system.

The dumbing down of America is both real and strategic. For those that can—>read here and for those that can’t, there’s an option to listen to the article as audio.

POV: Me choosing violence, on the Lord’s day 🙂‍↕️✨

Hot take—if you’re going to be dumb, be dumb and don’t vote, because here we are and it’s all your fault.
